What a week it’s been for Queensberry12!

December 2, 2009

Monday 30th November 2009:

I delivered the first ‘New York New York’ bag to none other than the current UK Trade & Industry Minister Lord Mervyn Davies[em17]. With certain orders you do have to go out of your way, so a quick 300 mile drive down to a very posh suburb in London was on the cards. Upon my arrival I was guided to the gym and set up the Heavy Duty Bag stand and hung the 1st Queensberry12 bag, it really didn’t look out of place with all the fancy expensive artwork on the walls. That moment will never be forgotten[em20]. Who would have thought that the first Queensberry12 customer would be so high profile? I hope to get one in Buckingham palace next [em3]!

Tuesday 1st October 2009:

Many text messages this morning as I’m in two of the top North East papers, ‘The Journal’ and ‘The Evening Chronicle’ please follow link to see the Journal’s article:

Mid morning and heading north after picking up the Boxing stand kindly loaned by Alibaba (cheers Paul,Lou,Terry) I received a call from BBC North East to appear on their local radio show. Had to be at the studio’s for 4.30, 20 minutes preparation and the green light comes on for my live interview. Please follow the link to hear me 48 minutes into their show…

So then after all this PR I have decided to have a day off, no chance! Been on the phone all day to other local radio stations with a slim chance of getting onto the Chris Evans BBC radio 2 show, watch this space…

Things I have learnt so far this week:

•Preparation for live radio interviews is essential, list those number 1 points to get across
•Look business like in all pubicity photo shoots, you never know who might see you
•Be prepared to take every opportunity even when your day is jam packed
•Yin – Yang days when starting your own company are inevitable, with one phone call even a bad day can turn good
What should I do next? Any advice would be greatly appreciated I will post another update shortly…

The Big Launch!

November 14, 2009

Well, today is a massive day for Queensberry 12, because I’m about to leave for London and the Global Entrepreneurship Week launch, sponsored by Alibaba! The event is at the British library in London and involves me showcasing my idea to 250 specially invited bigwigs, such as Peter ‘Dragon’s Den’ Jones and Matt Britton, Managing Director of Google UK. If they like my business better than the 6 other finalists, they vote by handing over special ‘Ali Dollers’. These are then translated into votes that take me a step closer to the £10,000. Don’t forget though, every one of your votes count too, so keep logging on to www.globalstartupchallenge.com/ben.php and voting for me.

Wish me luck!
